In a united global effort to honor and protect our planet’s most vital resource, AIMS Museo Maritimo proudly hosted the premiere screening of Ocean, the latest documentary narrated by the legendary Sir David Attenborough. Held in celebration of World Oceans Day, the special event gathered 61 passionate participants at the museum, immersing them in a breathtaking journey beneath the sea’s surface—and into the urgent realities facing marine life today.
This year, AIMS Museo Maritimo joined 23 maritime museums around the world in screening Ocean, a coordinated effort to raise awareness and inspire action for ocean conservation. Together, these institutions formed a powerful chorus, amplifying the call to protect the blue heart of our planet.
"Today is World Oceans Day — and the ocean needs YOU," read a message from the museum, echoing the global campaign. “We’re proud to stand with maritime museums across the globe to share this film and spark change.”

The event brought together students, educators, and marine science advocates, including honored guests from the DLSU SHORE Center. Through Attenborough’s iconic narration, guests witnessed the majesty and fragility of ocean ecosystems, learning how pollution, overfishing, and climate change are pushing our seas to the brink.
But the evening was not just about awareness—it was about empowerment. Attendees were encouraged to:
🌱 Reduce plastic use
🐟 Support sustainable seafood
📚 Educate others
🧽 Join coastal cleanups
🌐 Advocate for stronger ocean protection policies
"Ocean wasn't just a film—it was a call to arms,” one participant shared. “It reminded us that the ocean gives us life, and we must now return the favor.”
With support from the Minderoo Foundation, the International Congress of Maritime Museums, and Sir David Attenborough himself, the screening marked a meaningful step in AIMS Museo Maritimo’s mission to educate, engage, and empower.
As waves of applause closed the event, the message was clear: change begins with each of us. Watch Ocean. Talk about it. Take action. Because the ocean’s future depends on the choices we make today.
