The AIMS Museo Maritimo stands as a living archive of the Philippines’ rich maritime heritage, featuring model ships, navigational instruments, interactive simulators and curated exhibits. At its heart stands the iconic Lighthouse Tower, admired for its distinctive architectural design. This year, as part of their internship program, student interns from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) have been tasked to produce a promotional video that not only showcases these treasures but also inspires a broader set of audience to appreciate the museum and the stories it preserves.
In today’s digital age, promoting maritime history goes far beyond printed brochures and guided tours. The use of various online platforms—especially when paired with well-crafted hashtags—can extensively aid in extending the museum’s reach far beyond its walls. Through their campaign, the interns aim to create a vibrant online space where maritime culture is not only preserved, but actively discussed and celebrated.
Like a lighthouse guiding ships to a safe harbor, these hashtags can direct audiences across social media platforms toward conversations about seafaring past and present—constantly reminding us that our ancestors were skilled navigators, charting their course not only across the land, but across the waters that have shaped our history.
