AIMS Museo Maritimo introduces Board, Decode, and Dock!, an innovative educational game developed as part of the Deck 6: Maritime Connectivity exhibit to enhance understanding of vessel entry and exit procedures. Designed by Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) intern Karla Jane Cataluña, the activity combines a crossword-style board with clue cards that challenge participants to solve, unscramble, and arrange key maritime terms.

This interactive exhibit piece transforms complex port operations into an engaging, hands-on experience suitable for learners of all levels. Visitors are encouraged to explore the sequence of maritime documentation and processes in a fun yet educational way, reinforcing vital concepts through active participation.

Beyond the exhibit, Board, Decode, and Dock! is a versatile teaching tool for maritime educators. Instructors can integrate it into lessons as a review exercise, group activity, or assessment method, encouraging students to apply their knowledge and develop confidence in navigating real-world maritime procedures.

Mechanics for playing

1. Pick a Clue Card.

Select a card that provides a short definition or description of a maritime term related to vessel entry and exit.

2. Find the Letters that Match the Hint Provided.

Gather the letter tiles needed to form the answer based on the jumbled hint on the card.

3. Unscramble the Letters and Place the Word in its Respective Coordinate.

Arrange the tiles in the correct order and position them on the designated spot on the crossword-style board.
