AIMS Museo Maritimo is pleased to announce the relocation of its office to the newly renovated Deck 6 Lighthouse Building, now designated AIMS Connect. This strategic move marks not only a physical transition but also a significant shift in the museum’s approach to public engagement and collections access.

Open Storage Space
Formerly a storage and office space, AIMS Connect has been reimagined to facilitate a more open and interactive relationship between the museum and its visitors. A cornerstone of this transformation is the creation of an Open Storage Space, where previously hidden objects from the collection are now on display for public viewing. Unlike traditional exhibitions, this space invites visitors to explore maritime artifacts in a less structured, more accessible environment, offering a unique opportunity for direct interaction with the museum’s holdings.

Curator’s Studio Desk
In addition to the Open Storage, AIMS Connect includes a Collaboration Room, an expanded area of the museum’s library that encourages research, discussion, and intellectual exchange. The space also houses a Curator’s Studio Desk, dedicated to the management of the museum’s collections, including ongoing documentation and research activities, allowing visitors a rare glimpse into the scholarly work behind the scenes.

The integration of the Sailor’s Shop into the new space further enhances the visitor experience by offering a selection of maritime-themed merchandise, reflecting the museum’s commitment to fostering a comprehensive maritime culture.

This transformation was made possible through the support of Ms. Janet Abuid-Dandan, Vice President for Student Services and Development, whose leadership has been instrumental in realizing this vision. The museum also extends its appreciation to Dr. Arlene Abuid-Paderanga, President of AIMS, for approving the use of this space for public engagement and educational initiatives.
With AIMS Connect, the museum has taken a significant step toward broadening access to its collections and fostering a deeper understanding of maritime history. The initiative aligns with the institution’s mission to provide innovative learning environments that stimulate intellectual curiosity and scholarly exploration.
