Last June 25, 2024, the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) community celebrated the Day of the Seafarer, which recognizes the contributions of seafarers around the world. To honor our hardworking Filipino seafarers, AIMS Museo Maritimo announced that the museum was opened to the public for FREE last June 25 and 29. The AIMS Center for Library, Archives, and Museum Services (CLAMS) also prepared a campaign for Seafarer’s Day which promotes the usage of libraries and maritime heritage awareness to the AIMS Community.

This year’s celebration of Seafarer’s Day was a success as around 2,500 members of the AIMS Community composed of students, faculty, and employees participated in the campaign which was held at the MPC and Lighthouse Libraries at the AIMS Campus in Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to our sponsor, Monde Nissin Corporation, which is known for its signature noodle brand, Lucky Me! for supporting us in our cause and for making the event memorable to the entire AIMS community. Your contribution truly made a difference and was instrumental in making AIMSians reflect and appreciate the sacrifices of seafarers who are away from their families.

Once again, thank you to Lucky Me! Mi Goreng and to the entire AIMS community for making this year’s Day of the Seafarer meaningful. May the stories of our Filipino seafarers inspire all of us in achieving our dreams and in building our nation.
