PUBLICATION

Situated within the crossroads of vital trade routes and strategic waterways, the Philippines, an archipelagic nation, has seen its history and the character of its people molded by its maritime geography. From the ancient Balangays to the Spanish Galleons and contemporary freighters, the Philippines has perennially embraced its maritime identity. The Philippine Maritime Heritage Forum has played a pivotal role in consolidating and preserving the rich tapestry of maritime history and heritage.

TIMON

Since 2015, the forum has convened esteemed academicians, industry leaders, and maritime professionals to exchange insights on the maritime heritage and industry of the Philippines. To commemorate this milestone, AIMS Museo Maritimo established Timon: The Proceedings of the Philippine Maritime Heritage Forum, an annual publication. This collection synthesizes the discussions and findings from the forums into a comprehensive research material, essential for fostering further inquiry into maritime heritage and industry. Such endeavors are vital for both academic exploration and policymaking.

Named after the Filipino word for "rudder," Timon aims to steer awareness and serve as a cornerstone for future forums. It is envisioned as a guiding resource for diverse stakeholders in the maritime sector, including policymakers, seafarers, shipping companies, maritime institutions, and historians.
