The Museo Maritimo will finally implement different educational programs to the AIMS Tower. It offers a brand-new, interactive challenge designed to increase students’ engagement and participation. An activity titled “Are Your Designs Seaworthy?” aims to transform learning about key terminologies, maritime history, and shipbuilding process into a fun, competitive game that promotes teamwork, critical thinking, and appreciation of our history that lives in the deepest pits of the ocean.
Instead of just looking at exhibits, visiting the museum occasionally, students will not partake in a hands-on activity that puts their knowledge to the test.
How the Game Works
The mechanics of the game somewhat mirror the process of shipbuilding, but still kept it simple and engaging. The first part, designing the ship would be on how they could assemble their puzzle pieces based on the image featured in the card. Then, regarding the construction or whether their ships are seaworthy, they have to answer correctly the questions being asked.
Step 1: Pick a random card, containing an image at the front and a question on the back part.

Step 2: Read the questions that may be about the maritime history, key terms, and shipbuilding process—Steps of ship design and construction.

Step 3: Flip the card, the image being presented serves as a blueprint for the challenge. It will guide them to assemble the correct pieces on a face puzzle. This step challenges their ability to follow a design and work together to solve a problem.

Step 4: Once the puzzle is complete, they will ring the bell to signal they have finished. They must then give their answer to the question, proving that their “design” is indeed seaworthy. A correct answer confirms they have mastered the concept and won the round.
Why It Matters
This initiative is grounded on modern trend in museum education that has evolved from mere observation and tours into letting the individuals to experience each exhibit personally. Through the approach of incorporating gamification in educational settings, the Museo aims to make learning more effective and inspire the next generation of maritime professionals. “Are Your Designs Seaworthy?” is a perfect example of how museums and academic institutions could collaborate in order to create innovative and impactful learning experiences for students.
We invite all aspiring seafarers to take on the challenge and see if their designs are truly Seaworthy!
Will you accept this challenge, Captain?
