On July 16, 2026, AIMS Museo Maritimo attended the Tourism Statistics Workshop and Seminar held at the Selah Pods Hotel in Pasay City. It was organized by the Pasay City Tourism and Cultural Office.
The event was attended by participants from the M.I.C.E. (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, hotels, restaurants, museums, and other tourism attractions, emphasizing the collaborative effort to strengthen tourism data collection and reporting across the city.
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip tourism stakeholders with the competencies needed to accurately collect, record, and report tourism data.

The first part of workshop was facilitated by Mr. Ramil Basuel from the Department of Tourism (DOT). Mr. Basuel discussed key tourism concepts, including standard tourism definitions, and the classification of tourist sites and attractions. He explained how tourism establishments and attractions are categorized in accordance with industry standards and introduced the participants to key tourism indicators used to measure visitor arrivals and tourism performance.

The second session was facilitated by Ms. Brenna Membrere of the Department of Tourism (DOT), who provided participants with practical guidance on the proper collection, computation, and reporting of tourism data. She explained the standard methods for computing M.I.C.E., visitor, and accommodation statistics, ensuring that participants understood how to accurately record and consolidate tourism-related information.
Ms. Membrere also introduced the forms and templates required of tourism establishments, including hotels, museums, restaurants, M.I.C.E. venues, and other tourism attractions. She walked participants through the proper completion and submission of these reports to the Local Government Unit (LGU), emphasizing the importance of timely, complete, and accurate data in generating reliable tourism statistics.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing that generating accurate and reliable tourism statistics enables the Local Government Unit (LGU) and other tourism stakeholders to make informed decisions that support the sustainable growth and development of the local tourism industry.
