14 Years of Stories, Heritage, and the Sea: An Open Museum Day

Article by AIMS Museo Maritimo Team

Every museum begins with a story.

For AIMS Museo Maritimo, that story began on October 11, 2012, with a simple yet meaningful purpose: to preserve, share, and keep alive the maritime stories that form an important part of who we are. And a vision to become "the North Star of Philippine Maritime History and Heritage."

Fourteen years later, that story continues to unfold.

As we celebrate our 14th anniversary, AIMS Museo Maritimo continues to open its doors — and this time, we invite you to be part of the story again.

Step Inside. Discover Our Maritime Story.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026 (Saturday), AIMS Museo Maritimo will hold an Open Museum Day, welcoming visitors to explore our galleries and discover the stories behind our maritime heritage.

For this special celebration, entrance to the museum will be FREE for non-AIMS guests.

Whether it is your first visit or you are returning to a familiar gallery, we invite you to take your time, look closer, and discover something new.

Behind every artifact is a story.

Behind every vessel is a journey.

Behind every maritime tradition is a connection to the people and communities who have shaped our history.

These are stories worth remembering — and sharing with the next generation.

Celebrating 14 Years of Keeping Stories Afloat

The Open Museum Day is part of AIMS Museo Maritimo’s celebration of Museums and Galleries Month this October, a time to recognize the role of museums as places where history is preserved, knowledge is shared, and communities come together.

For 14 years, the museum has continued its humble effort to bring our maritime story to a wider audience.

This anniversary is not only a celebration of how far we have come. It is also an opportunity to look ahead—to continue creating spaces where people can learn about our maritime heritage, appreciate the role of the sea in our lives, and discover the stories that connect us to our past.

Your Story Begins Here

On this special day, we invite you to bring your family, friends, colleagues, and fellow maritime enthusiasts to AIMS Museo Maritimo.
